Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonic Acids And Salts
Linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS) is now the world’s largest-volume synthetic surfactant, which is the biodegradable answer to Nonlinear Alkylbenzene Sulfonate. LABSA is an anionic surfactant, with molecules belonging to a hydrophilic and a hydrophobic group. LABSA is widely used due to its relatively low cost and good performance. The chemical and physical properties are determined by the length of the Alkyl chain and therefore results in a number of formulations that cover a wide range of applications. The main use of LABSA is in household detergents as well as industrial and commercial cleaners. Other applications are that it can be used an an emulsifier and also as a wetting agent.
